In order to promote the internationalization of Guangdong higher education and the development of international education in Guangdong, the provincial government has established the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship of Outstanding International Student. The application is now open. The guide to application is hereby notified as follows.

1. Scholarship Candidates

(1) International students with valid passports, newly admitted to or already registered in degree programs of Jinan University, including students in bachelor`s degree, master`s degree and PhD degree programs

(2) Having not received any other governmental scholarships, except for university scholarships and entrepreneurship scholarships

2. Awards and amounts

￥10000 per academic year for each bachelor`s student

￥20000 per academic year for each master`s student

￥30000 per academic year for each PhD student

3. Eligibility

u International Students Currently Studying at JNU

(1) Registered in full-time degree programs, under the age of 40;

(2) Having studied at JNU for a year at least and kept a decent record of behavior (no violation of Chinese laws and regulations or University rules)

(3) Enjoying academic excellence recognized by teachers and fellow schoolmates, that is, the grades of compulsory courses should be no less than 70 in the last academic year and no more than 2 subjects of the elective courses were failed.

(4) Proficient in Chinese language, which is support by the certificates of language proficiency like HSK (international students taking English-taught programs may be exempted from this requirement)

u International Students Newly Enrolled

(1) Excellent in academic performance at the prior stage of study ; having clear study plans in accordance with their own interests and majors

(2) Proficient in Chinese language which may be supported by the certificates of language proficiency like HSK (international students taking English-taught programs may be exempted from this requirement)

² The applicants of bachelor`s program should have a certificate of completion of high school education and be under the age of 30.

² The applicants of master`s program should have already obtained a bachelor`s degree and be under the age of 35.

² The applicants of doctoral program should have already obtained a master`s degree and be under the age of 40.

u For International Students Currently Studying at JNU

(1) Application Form of Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship (Template A)

(2) Transcript with grades of 2021-2022 academic year (the original official documents stamped by the Academic Affairs Department of JNU)

(3) A copy of the first page of passport

(4) Certificates of Chinese language proficiency (students of English-taught programs may be exempted)

(5) Personal statement (1500 words at least and 5 photos attached) themed on personal feelings or experiences in China, or campus life at JNU, or study plan

u For International Students Newly Enrolled

(1) Application Form of Guangdong Government Outstanding International Student Scholarship (Template B)

(2) A copy of the first page of passport

(3) A copy of the certificate of highest degree or diploma.

(4) Stamped transcripts with grades of the previous stage of study

(5) Two letters of recommendation from the previous school they graduated from

(6) Certificates of Chinese language proficiency (such as the certificate of HSK) and students of English-taught programs may be exempted.

Notice: 

v Please submit the application forms and supporting documents in line with the order above.

v The application form should be filled in digitally with a digital ID photo attached and a hand-written application form will not be accepted.

v The hard copy of the application form should be single-sided printed WITHOUT being stapled.

5. Process of Scholarship Candidate Evaluation

Personal application → School evaluation → University evaluation → University nomination and publicity → Department of Education of Guangdong Province approval

The final result will be subject to the result officially published by the Guangdong Province Government.

6. Personal Application

(1) For international students currently studying at JNU, as well as newly-admitted graduate students, the application forms and supporting documents should be submitted to their home schools

(2) For the international undergraduate students newly enrolled, the application forms and supporting documents should be submitted to the Admissions Office of the Undergraduate School (Room 404, the Administration Building, Shipai Campus)

(3) Deadline: 5:00 PM, August 23rd, 2022
